Abstract: There is a lot we don’t know about triangulations of even the most basic spaces; an alternative is to study how these change in naturally occuring families. I will try to explain an inequality of G. Lim and myself that extends some work of Cheeger-Gromov and Cha, and where this fits into a study of the complexity of surgery theory.
